M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a dynamic M.Tech program designed in line with premier institutions like IITs and NITs. This program allows students to specialize in one of three vital domains of mechanical engineering:

  • Thermal Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Energy Technology

This two-year postgraduate program blends strong theoretical foundations with practical skills, experimental techniques, and advanced research. It emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and industrial application—ensuring graduates are industry-ready and capable of contributing meaningfully to technology and development.

Specialization Overviews 

M.Tech in Thermal Engineering

This specialization provides advanced education in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermal system design. Students gain skills in thermal system modeling and optimization used in power plants, HVAC systems, engines, and renewable energy technologies. Training in CFD and experimental methods prepares graduates for technical and research roles in energy, automotive, and aerospace sectors.

M.Tech in Manufacturing Engineering

Focused on modern manufacturing practices, this stream covers automation, robotics, CAD/CAM, materials processing, and lean manufacturing. With exposure to both hands-on labs and research, graduates become capable problem-solvers ready for advanced roles in manufacturing industries, public sector units, and R&D centers.

M.Tech in Energy Technology

This interdisciplinary specialization addresses renewable and conventional energy challenges. It blends mechanical, electrical, and environmental concepts to prepare students for careers in solar, wind, biomass, nuclear energy systems, energy efficiency consulting, and sustainable infrastructure design. It also includes energy policy, climate impact, and smart grid technologies.

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Automobile, Production, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

Minimum Marks:

At least 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in the qualifying degree (Relaxation for reserved categories as per norms).
